Can you imagine the outcry if George W. Bush had encouraged Americans to report their fellow citizens to the White House? That is exactly what Obama wants you to do. Here it is, straight from the White House:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov
…and you know that many who frequent this site would be leading the charge against this were it Bush but with Obama, it’s no big deal.
You really gotta wonder what people like our good professor have to say about the fact that this “Community Organizer” is now ripping community organizers.

Where are all my Liberal posters crying about this? They sure didn’t hesitate to bitch and moan about Bush and his domestic evesdropping. Where are Johnathan and the others who went home crying because were too “mean spirited” here and called people names yet they don’t say much when Nancy Pelosi calls Republicans Nazi’s.
You know where they all are? They are hiding under the bed because even they didn’t think it was going to be this bad.

There’s a pretty striking difference between illegally listening to someone’s phone conversations and requesting information (freely given information, at that) about false rumors and allegations. But I wouldn’t expect you to understand that.
And Roland, Pelosi never called anyone a Nazi and you know that. She suggested that people came to the Town Hall meetings with swastikas. There were, indeed, plenty of protesters carrying signs emblazoned with the Nazi symbol at various town hall meetings across the country. The speaker of the house was not implying that the protesters themselves were Nazis, but that their wingnut judgment is so clouded that they would compare our current president to one of history’s most heinous villains.

Just another reason why I’ve thankfully forgotten to read your blog for so many months. Your ignorance and partisan pandering is disheartening for those of us true fiscal conservatives.
Obama just wants everyone’s e-mails so they can spam them with “truth” rather than misinformation. No one’s reporting them to some watch list. But I guess you’re too stupid to know the difference.

There is nothing in the White House statement which you quoted that says anything about reporting “fellow citizens.” It asks for misleading emails and other web content to be reported.

Roland is not spinning anything. Govco asked for the names of people who were providing “Misinformation”. No spin there. They were asking Americans to send their friends names to the White House. Can’t get much more clear than that.
There is NO spin here. I love the fact that when you use their actual words, is when you get the biggest backlash because Liberals just cannot stand having their own words thrown back in their face. They would much rather deal with a Rush Limbaugh and his opinion then their own words.
If it was not such a big deal, why did the White House pull it?
Again, Bush was condemned for listening in on foreign calls trying to catch Terrorists so you can only imagine if he had asked for names of Americans.

Where did Govco specifically ask for names of people. Show me where he specifically said that. In the quote above, there is no mention of a request for the actual names of people. If such a request was actually made, then the author of this blog should cite those actual words rather than make that claim without any evidentiary proof.
Based on the citation above, there is no evidence that the request if for actual names of people. It is just an assumption, what I call someone’s spin.

Per law any E-mail correspondence to the White House must be kept and filed. If you get an E-mail from a friend and foward it, they have that persons name. Plain and simple.
Who said anything about a blackmail list? Simply asking for people to snitch on their neighbor is bad enough.
Face facts, if Bush had did this, it would be a completly different ball game and you two would be ripping him to shreds (as would I).

I am implying nothing. It is Roland insinuated that the White House wants us to report our “fellow citizens” even though the quote he cites says nothing about the White House being interested in actual people who may be misrepresenting the Obama health care plan. Since no one has offered any direct quote where the White House has said they are interest in the names of actual citizens, this blog post simply serves as one person’s spin.

Who is my “Dear Leader”? It certainly was not former President George W. Bush and it certainly is not current President Barak Obama. I belong to the only lasting Kingdom, so my leader is my Lord…Jesus Christ.
I am only interested in health care reform because I believe God’s will would be done on earth as it is in heaven a little more if affordable and attainable health care was available to everyone. The jury is still out on whether a national health care would accomplish this. But one verdict the jury has rendered through history, is that private health care alone is a failed enterprise. Personally, I really like the idea of a CO-OP health care system that is being tossed around as of late (and there is presidence for the sucessful nature of CO-OP enterprises).

Rex, please show me where the provision is in the constituion for that.
Please show me where the Bible speaks of us relying on “Govco” to care for the sick instead of each other.
Show me where it is moral to take, by force, from one segment of society and give it to another.
If “govco” would let more competition be allowed, such as insurance companies being able to offer across state lines, things would be much better. Perfect? Nothing is going to be perfect but that is what you Liberals love. Find the flaws and insist it needs to be “fixed”.

As far as where is is moral to take by force from one to give to the other…I assume you are talking about taxation. It can be debated all day long just which, if any, taxes imposed on society by the government are moral and just. However, whatever taxes governments do impose, Jesus did say “give to Caesar what is Caesar’s” and he said that under a Roman tyrany system that was far from fair when it comes to levying taxes.
As far as showing you where the Bible says it is ok for people to rely on “Govco” to care for society…that is in the same passage where it says it is okay to rely on a private, capitolistic, enterprise system.
As for what the consitution says…the constitution is not God. I am interested in policies shaped by the heart of God rather than the constitution. Further, whatever the constitution says or does not say, does not make it right and just. When and if the constitution is found to be in error, it needs to be changed. Even American history recognizes that, thus having changed the constitution to provide equal rights to all regardless of race, creed, etc…
Somewhere in all this debate about health care is the problem that someone or some people have a vested interest in making money. Since when did caring for people’s health become about making money? But that is the downside of a capitolistic system (that does not make capitolism any less wrong than communism, socialism, imperialism, federalism, etc…). Somewhere in all of this debate is someone only interested in protecting their wealth. Given the cost of health care, I do not see how society can provide adequate to all of its citizens without both the private investor and the government. In an ideal scenario, the cost of individual health care would be income based. But as long as health care is a business to make money for someone else, there is little hope of healthcare cost becoming income based. This is why I really like the idea of exploring a CO-OP health care system. It is outside of my expertese to know how this would be set up and work but my previous experiences with CO-OP based enterprizes have been good…that is, they were sucessful because they were ran by the poeple and for the people, taking into consideration a person/family income level and so on…
