Tax Holiday

So, Obama’s pick for Treasury Secretary, Timothy Geithner,  took a little “tax holiday” and conveniently forgot to pay his taxes.  This, according to the Democrats and the media, was a simple, common mistake.  It’s no big deal, right?  I mean, this guy is too BIG to fail (according to Chuckie Schumer), right? This is SUCH a joke.  Do you really think a Republican would get away with this?  Heck, they tried to bring Bush down with things he did 20 years ago yet this guy, who is going to be in CHARGE of collecting taxes), is given a pass?

BTW, do you remember who the press and the Democrat machine crushed just a few months ago when he didn’t pay some taxes?  Anyone?  Anyone?

I have never understood how anyone can “forget” to pay taxes? I mean, it is almost a national holiday!

How I wish a certain Political Science professor had not taken his blog private. I would love to know how he defends this one.

BTW, the answer to my question is Joe The Plumber. I remember going on to some blogs back in October and listening to Liberals rip him to shreds because he didn’t pay his taxes yet those same, self-righteous hypocrites are now defending Geithner. Nice.

This morning on Washington Insider uber-Conservative Charles Krauthammer said that he doesn’t care about Geithner’s tax controversy because of the enormity of the current financial crisis…basically that it’s too important to have this competent, knowledgeable person working on the problem ASAP to afford to dwell on what would normally be a more important concern during more normal times.

  5. Roland Says:

That’s exactly what is wrong with the Conservative movement. Too many whips willing to stand up for what is right. What, is Geithner some sort of Messiah? Is there not a single other person competent enough to serve in that position? Sad.

Following this blog off and on for a while, I find it comical that no one answered your challenge of who. Back, during the election, Liberals were jumping all over “Joe the Plumber” about not paying his taxes yet they allow for an “exception” with an Obama man. I noticed Jonathan stepped over that little issue in your post. Pretty funny.

If Geitner is so competent and knowlegeable then why couldn’t he follow the simple instructions to report all income, etc. while doing his taxes with Turbotax. If he can’t follow those simple instructions, he can’t get us out of this mess. The only thing that will get us out of this mess is tax cuts on businesses, individuals and on capital gains (if anyone has any these days).

  8. Dude Says:

    Capital Gains? What’s that? ROFL!

I agree Robin. Were this a Republican, he would get “Borked”.
