Shameful?

January 30, 2009

“It is shameful,” Obama said from the Oval Office Thursday. “And part of what we’re going to need is for the folks on Wall Street who are asking for help to show some restraint, and show some discipline, and show some sense of responsibility.”

No, Mr. President,

What is shameful is that while the average American is struggling to pay bills, members of congress give themselves a pay raise.

While the average American is cutting back on expenses, members of Congress enjoying dining in their private dining rooms and swim at their expensive health clubs.  They have multiple homes (one in D.C. and one in their home district).

While average Americans are worrying about job losses Congress has one of the best retirement programs anywhere.

While the average American is filled with worry and anxiety about how they will support their families, The President and Congress enjoy all the perks that those horrible “fat cats” on Wall Street get if not more.

While average Americans wonder if they will even take a vacation this year or wonder about their kids birthday present, the President and the Democrats spend a record amount on his Inauguration.

While the average American puts off buying a new car and gets by with their old one or they “make do” with the broken dryer, the President spends OUR money redecorating the White House.

“There will be time for them to make profits, and there will be time for them to get bonuses … Now is not that time.”

Except for the tax cheat Timothy Gietner who just walked away with a nice $450,000 bonus from the Feds.  Also, so now Govco is going to tell us when we can make profits and when we can’t.  THAT is shameful Mr. President.  I hope you fail and fail big time.

The Goracle

January 29, 2009

al

In the midst of a mega ice storm and record lows all around the country, Al Gore went to Washington to give his “State of the Earth” address.  The Washington Post has a great article on this worth reading.

Some great portions of it:

John Kerry (D-Mass.), appealed to hear more of the Goracle’s premonitions. “Share with us, if you would, sort of the immediate vision that you see in this transformative process as we move to this new economy,” he beseeched.

Sen. James Risch (R-Idaho) begged the Goracle to look further into the future. “What does your modeling tell you about how long we’re going to be around as a species?” he inquired.

I have done plenty of posts on the myth of Global Warming and the scare  tactics used by Gore and others but it’s always fun to revisit it.  So, once again, we here at the Moratorium seek a moratorium on Al Gore and Global Warming.

Only Govco

January 28, 2009

Wow.  I guess the American People are just…fodder.  Just meaningless gnats.  Just some useless cog that does nothing in the big scheme of things.  Take a look at this Obama quote:

“…only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe.  Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy…”

I have a response to this:

Only the American People, hard working American People and their ideas, their perseverance, their sweat and blood, their genius, their backbone, their creativity, their brilliance can provide the short AND long term boost needed to blow the roof off this economy and break through the idiocy and socialist ideas of this Liberal run government.

The Wussification of America

By Roland

 nowimps

What is the deal these days?  It is as if any sort of backbone that America had was thrown away.  People these days in America, and the world for that matter, simply have no backbone or, to put it more bluntly, no cajonies.   They are offended at everything, never want to take a stand and simply let people walk all over them.

These days a big personification of a Wuss is the President himself. George W. Bush.  The guy can’t seem to do anything without apologizing for it.  The Liberals will out and out lie about him and he does nothing.  In fact, he usually just apologizes for nothing.  Take the current flap about Federal Attorneys.  So he fired them.  SO WHAT?  Clinton fired ALL of them.  A President can do that.  What did Bush do?  He apologized for how it was done.  Illegal immigration?  Bush talks about amnesty.  Sandy Berger steals top secret documents from the Federal archives and Bush does nothing and says nothing.  Get some balls Mr. President.

Liberals are not much better.  They only want appeasement for anything and everything.  Clinton pretty much did nothing whenever we were attacked in the 90’s.  Bin Laden even said that because of what the U.S. did not do in the 90’s was why he saw attacking us as the perfect opportunity.  He knew that these days the U.S. is just a bunch of wimps.   The first sign of trouble in a conflict and Liberals want to surrender.  They are worse than France!

Jimmy Carter has turned into probably the biggest Wus of all the Presidents.  No dictator can do anything wrong.  He goes and has tea with Fidel Castro and Kim Jong-Il, among others.  We all saw how well Carter handled the Iranian Hostage crises.

The media plays a big part in this as well.  15 British sailors are kidnapped by Iraq and do you see the media saying anything negative about them?  They are  praising Ahmadinejad and the Iranian people.  Not a thing was said of Iran’s violation of the Geneva Convention.  The media also never seem to condemn anyone.  Shortly after  9/11, Reuters news service announced they would no longer use the term “Terrorist” when talking about,  well, Terrorists.  What a joke.

Speaking  of those 15 sailors….what did Britain do?  NOTHING.  Tony Blair = WUSS.  The Islamic Terrorists around the world are going to get more and more emboldened and know they can do pretty much anything and the rest of the world will do nothing.

Now, with all that being said, I am not advocating war or aggression for no reason but come on…can’t we at least say SOMETHING and not just get walked all over by everyone?  Can we at least speak softly but carry a big stick instead of apologizing for talking too loud and then appease appease appease?

I didn’t mean for this post to be so political, I wanted to write more about things in every day life as well.  I mean, they seem to call counselors into schools and work places at the drop of a hat.  Suck it up!!!  These days people go see Shrinks as much as they change their underwear.  I’m not saying they aren’t needed…at times…but it has been taken to excess.   These days if you DON’T have some “problem”, “issue” or “wound” and go to a shrink and get drugged up then you are not normal.   If you do mess up all you have to do is  apologize, cry, go to rehab and then admit that you were bullied on the playground when you were little and you get a pass.  HEY!  Suck it up, take some responsibility and move on.  The world doesn’t revolve around you!!

TV is not much better.  People don’t like it when Simon is so mean to people on American Idol.  Hey, if they suck, they suck.  Deal with it.  The very fact that so many people  get caught up and sucked into watching this show says a lot about our society.  It says, in big lavender letters, GAY! (Don’t anyone say anything about me watching America’s Next Top Model either because there are hot chicks on that show!) ;)

There is a phrase I use with my kids all the time.  “Dry it up”.  They fall down and start crying I first make sure they are not hurt then I tell them to dry it up.  I don’t rush over and make a big fuss over them and coddle them.   I am hard on my kids.  I push them to go beyond what they think they are capable of.  I want them to look back when they are older and know that I pushed them to exceed.  I tell the story often that when my daughter was 2 or 3 she didn’t want to go down a slide.  I made her because I knew she would have fun.  She was scared but then loved it.   I did the same thing when teaching her to read.  When she wanted to stop I kept going.  I showed her what was beyond her limits.  I expect a lot out of her and don’t apologize for it.   As I said before in my overprotective parents blog it’s the feminization of our society approach that I don’t want to see come near my kids.  Go mess someone else’s kids up.

These same wimps want to get rid of things like Dodge Ball or even Tag at school.    My friend at work said he can’t even cheer for his kid as his little league game because they don’t want to create a “negative atmosphere”.  In fact, some cities are banning“chatter”at baseball games so you can’t yell the old “Heeeeeeyyyy Batter Batter Batter SWING Batter!”.  GIVE ME A BREAK!!!  That has Liberal weenie written all over it.  The same wimps who say things like “Everyone is a winner so let’s not keep score” or “there are no losers so everyone gets a trophy!”.    These are probably the same people who want to stop having a Valedictorian or a Salutatorian at graduations.

So, let’s all dry it up, get some balls and deal with these things as they should be.  If we don’t, if we keep going down this road, in 20 years we will have no country to call home because we will have given it over to Islamic fascism and wimps because we simply don’t want to offend anyone.

 ***UPDATE***

Now, over in Britian they are proposing that kids don’t raise hands to answer questions in class.  Education Secretary said “We need to make sure that no one is left behind at any point…”  Yeah, that’s right.  Don’t praise kids who study and are actually smart!  What a joke.  Remember, it’s all about “fairness”.

Pork

January 26, 2009

So, now, birth control is a stimulus to the economy.  Have you seen all the pork, besides this birth control idiocy, that is attached to the so called stimulus bill?  It’s a joke!  Computers in the classrooms, money for roads, etc….nothing of which will truly spur on the economy much.  Remember, FDR tried this and we actually had a depression within the great depression in 1937.   How about some real stimulus…cutting our taxes!  If they put a MORATORIUM on income taxes for, say, one or two months, can you imagine the money that would be going back into the economy?  But, no, Govco would never, ever do that!

What I want to know is where Mark Elrod stands on this pork.  I mean, when the GOP controlled congress he would constantly harp on the pork in their bills.  How about it Mark?  Are you going to be just as critical of this pork bill?

Obama attacks Rush

January 26, 2009

Boy, it’s nice to see the new President so concerned about the lives of American citizens that he puts the lives of Terrorists first and then tells the GOP to stop listening to Rush.  I tell ya, THAT is really going to spur on the economy and keep us safe.  Not listening to Rush.  Yep.  That’s the ticket.

What a load of crap.  He wants to stop all the partisanship.  This was pointed out before on this site but isn’t it funny that only the Republicans can be partisan?  Should Democrats stop listening to Al Franken? How about Jimmy Carter?  Bill Clinton?  Keith Olberman?  Why didn’t Obama talk about Olberman and tell the Democrats to stop listening to him?  Why?  It’s because Democrats can’t be partisan.  When Democrats talk about crossing the aisle they mean for Republicans to come to their side, to cave and, the sad thing is, many Republicans are (which is why I am leaving the GOP).

Bill Clinton tried this as well.  Remember his little war with Rush back in the early years of his administration?  It didn’t work.  Rush just got more and more listeners and helped the GOP take the house in 1994.  Besides, last I checked, we still had freedom to listen to whoever we damn well please.

Remember, after 2004 when Bush talked about this “political capital” he had to spend and the Liberals were whining and bitching about his gloating?  Now, Obama does the same thing but we hear nothing about it.  It’s the same thing with the decisions he is making.  With Bush it was “A controversial executive order…” and with Obama it’s just an “executive order”.

Anyway, can we get a moratorium on Democrats attacking talk radio?  You guys suck at it so get used to it!

Medical Dramas

January 24, 2009

As it has now been two years since we started our little adventure here, I thought I would throw up a blast from the past and repost the very first Moratorium:

10 year Moratorium on Medical Dramas

By Roland

Grey’s Anatomy

Ok, first things first…Medical Dramas on TV.  Puke shows like Grey’s Anatomy, ER, House, Scrubs (yeah, I know, it’s a comedy but still takes place in a Hospital) and the like.  Give me a break! They are ALL the same and you have a new one come out just about every year.   You have  everything that can possibly go on or go wrong in a hospital happen to THAT hospital.  You have everyone sleeping with everyone else (and never any VD outbreaks…imagine that!).    It’s become a bore and I don’t care if it does get great ratings, I am tired of them.  There needs to be a 10 year moratorium on any new medical shows.

Terrorists

January 22, 2009

After only two days in office, the top priority of Obama is the rights of Terrorists who only want to kill Americans.

Yeah…I feel SO much safer!

Equal Standards

January 21, 2009

Juan Williams, from NPR and Fox News, has an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal.  Here are a few good quotes:

If his presidency is to represent the full power of the idea that black Americans are just like everyone else — fully human and fully capable of intellect, courage and patriotism — then Barack Obama has to be subject to the same rough and tumble of political criticism experienced by his predecessors. To treat the first black president as if he is a fragile flower is certain to hobble him. It is also to waste a tremendous opportunity for improving race relations by doing away with stereotypes and seeing the potential in all Americans.

Every American president must be held to the highest standard. No president of any color should be given a free pass for screw-ups, lies or failure to keep a promise.

There is a dangerous trap being set here. The same media people invested in boosting a black man to the White House as a matter of history have set very high expectations for him. When he disappoints, as presidents and other human beings inevitably do, the backlash may be extreme.

Excellent.  He really gets to the heart of many of the postings by the staff here at the Moratorium site, the fact that the media treats Liberals with kid gloves and give them pass after pass after pass while holding Conservatives feet to the fire.  It’s great reading.

I pledge..

January 20, 2009

…to try not to puke while watching this video:

Can you get any more self aggrandizing, arrogant, self-absorbed, hypocritical than this?  I don’t think so.  I don’t think it’s possible.  What is REALLY sad is that, if these are such great things to do, WHY are they only pledging to do it when a black Democrat takes office?

Pathetic, that’s what this is.
