The Real Heroes

Iwo Jima

On this Veterans day, I was thinking of all the brave Men and Women who have given their lives for freedom for our nation and was struck by something that is being said quite often these days.  Something that really makes me sick.  Over the past few years you have been hearing about all these people who are “saving the world” by buying a certain kind of light bulb or driving an eco friendly car.  They are “saving the world” by flying up to the North Pole to do a news story or by spending millions of dollars to finance a concert.

Let me tell you who REALLY saved the world.  The men who stormed the beaches of Normandy or Iwo Jima.  Who survived the winter of 1944-45 at Bastogne with no winter supplies.  Who liberated concentration camps or survived the Bataan death march.  These men and women took it upon themselves to face an evil that encompassed the globe…that was attempting genocide and truly trying to take over the world.

THEY are the ones who saved the world.  Not idiots like Al Gore or Matt Lauer or any of the other narcissistic global warming crowd.

Lets get a moratorium on fake heroes who travel to Europe, not to fight against an evil such as Adolf Hitler, but to campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Make sure you thank a Vet today.

My dad fought at Iwo Jima. There is nothing in your rant here with which can argue. “Hero” used to mean something, and it was not Gore.

At first when I saw the headline and t hen the picture, before I started to read the copy, I was afraid you were going to go off on Veterans Day. Maybe you should rewrite your headline to better reflect what you’re really bothered by.

Call a vet, any vet, tomorrow.

    My father served in Korea.

I agree with you about fake heroes.

BTW, can we also get a moratorium on ANYTHING having to do with Brangelina and Britney Spears??

  4. Roland Says:

Tina, sure…just as long as we can keep seeing pictures of Angelia. She is a babe. 🙂
