McDonalds Lounge

McDonalds Lounge

Driving back from a weekend trip a few weeks ago, we stopped at a McDonald’s.  I like McDonald’s.  Always have.  Now, with kids, it makes long trips all the better since they get a new toy to play with.  Anyway, the one we stopped at was really nice.  They had flat screen TV’s, nice soft chairs set up coffee house style and just an overall relaxing, clean feel about it.  I know that on my long trips back and forth to college, it would have been so nice to kick back in a recliner for a half hour and eat lunch before getting back on the road instead of sitting on a hard 20 minute bench (20 minutes because that is all you can take before you have to leave).  I found this article online.

I like it!  Let’s get a moratorium now on all the other fast food restaurants, especially Burger King and Taco Bell that ALWAYS look and feel dirty when you eat in.

Piano Players

August 20, 2007

Mick Jagger does it.  So does Springsteen.  Seger, Sheryl Crow and, I am sure, others do it as well.  It drives me crazy!!!!  It’s nothing but showboating by an artist that just needs to show up to be THE show.  What do they do?  They play the piano.  Take Springsteen for example.  He has the whole E-Street band to back him up which includes a keyboardist.  So, what does Bruce do during one song.  He has the keyboardist step backstage and Bruce goes over and plays the piano for a song.  WHY?  Does the other guy not know that song?  No, it is just to show everyone that he can also play the piano.

As I said, Mick does it as well.  They even bring out an extra one for him and he plays along with the regular keyboardist (Chuck Levell).

Sure, it’s not a big deal but it still looks so tacky and staged.

Anyway, let’s get a moratorium on this!!

HillaryYes, we need to bring up the need for a moratorium on her again.  Have you heard the latest?  Over 2 million pages of documents from when she was First Lady are locked up in the Clinton Library and won’t be available until AFTER the 2008 election.  Convenient, huh?  Check out this quote concerning them: “Political consultants said that if Hillary Clinton’s records were made public, rivals would mine them for scraps of information that might rattle her campaign.”

Gee, you think so??  Oh, that would be SO unfair.  I mean, Liberals can whine and moan about the Attorney General and E-mails concerning the firing of Federal Attorneys (which is NOT a crime) but ask for documents that are 10 years old concerning Hillary and, for example, her dismal health care initiative and it’s too bad, so sad.

Anyway, I saw this information today and just felt the need to write another moratorium on her.  Enjoy.

Global Debate

August 8, 2007

AlgoreSo, what’s the problem with Al?  If he is so confident and so passionate and so right about all this global warming crap, why doesn’t he debate the issue?  Why doesn’t he at least discuss it with folks who are against it?  Because he knows he won’t win.  Because he knows that his utter hypocrisy will show through.

He was recently challenged to a debate but refuses.  I love this quote from Dennis Avery who has challenged Gore to a debate and is co-author of the book “Unstoppable Global Warming Every 1,500 Years.”:

“If global warming truly is the most important public policy issue of our day, then it is high time the public got to hear the arguments from both sides matched up against each other,”

Check out some of Gore’s detractors: Prof. S. Fred Singer (former director of the U.S. National Weather Service), Tim Ball, Ph.D. (historical climatologist), Prof. Ian Clark (University of Ottawa), and Prof. Richard Lindzen (MIT).  Just to name a few.

Once again, let’s get a moratorium on global warming.

Bridges, Govco, Pork and the Blame Game

August 6, 2007

So, within 24 hours of the horrible bridge collapse up in MN, the Liberals were already finding ways to blame the President or Republicans for it.  Their battle cry is that all the money being “wasted” in Iraq could have gone to shore up the infastructure of Americas highways and bridges.  Come on now, say we hadn’t gone into Iraq and all that billions of dollars was there…do you really think the Democrats would have saved it?  Hell no!! They would have found some way to spend it (like they would ever give it back to the people).  That money, no matter what, would have gone to something else besides securing bridges and roads because the mantra of Govco is, don’t fix it UNTIL it’s broken then just tax the people for it.

You want to know what the good Govco of MN is using tax payer money for?

  • The Bailout of the Minneapolis Teacher’s Retirement Fund
  • $30 million for Zoo exhibits
  • $12 milion to renovate a theater
  • A  new $700 million stadium for the Twins
  • A Vikings ship model for $1 million
  • A $500,000 skating rink
  • $1 million for a replica Vikings ship in Moorhead
  • Nice, huh?  These Politicans complain about having no money for roads or Police or this or that yet they find the money for their pet projects and what is worse, many of these projects could easily be paid for by who the project will benefit.  In the city of Charlotte, NC, tax payers paid for a brand new arena for the NBA Bobcats which is owned by Bob Johnson.  You know, the founder of BET?  This guy has billions yet the CITY paid for the whole arena.  Well, the people paid for it.  What a joke.  They pay these criminals  millions of dollars to play sports yet the tax payers foot the bill for the stadium then when something goes wrong, the Politicans say they need to increase taxes to pay for it or they, like the Liberals, just point the finger at Republicans and blame them for the foul up.

The city of Charlotte is a great example.  The Mayor (a RINO) is always complaning there is not enough money for more police or for more prosecutors or to build more/better roads yet he has no problem at all paying for:

    •  A new NBA Arena
    • A light rail line that is already 3 times over budget.
    • a NASCAR hall of fame
    • A new downtown minor league ball park

Now, what happens when a bridge in Charlotte comes down?  Will the mayor cite lack of state of federal funding?  The funds are there, it’s just that he refuses to use it for the right things.  Instead, he just wants more shiny things to make Charlotte a “world class city” (his words).

Let’s get a moratorium on pork and the politicans who continue to serve it up.

    “Good Morning!”

    August 2, 2007

    Good Morning!

Ok, big pet peeve of mine (well, isn’t this site just one long pet peeve?).  A public speaker at a conference, your boss at a meeting, your Minister, whoever….they get up to speak and say “Good morning” and then when they get a mumbled response from the audience, they say “Oh, I think you can do better than that!  GOOD MORNING!!!!”

Sorry, but that just really bugs me.  Can we get a moratorium on people who demand a response out of you?
