“I need a CSM to register 12 for an override please.”

You know, I gotta tell ya, that is the worst thing you can hear in a store while waiting in line to pay.  What it is code for is “Let’s make sure we make these customers wait just a bit longer!!!”  Now, just hearing that over the loud speaker is not what is so bad.  What really grinds on my nerves is that when the CSM comes over, most of the time…in fact probably 99.9% of the time, they don’t even look or ask what is wrong.  They just come over, punch some keys on the register or insert their key and then leave.  Now, hear me out here.  If they don’t even care what the override is for, why even have an override?  Why not just empower the cashier to be able to do that override? 

Let’s get a moratorium on cashiers not having enough power to get us out of the store faster.   Better yet, if more stores would have the self-check out system that Wal-Mart, Lowes and other stores have thing would be sooooooo much better!!!
