His infamous speech (in front of the green backdrop) on the night Obama all but won the nomination was perhaps the worst teleprompter performance ever. Seriously, this practice is intended to improve the visual for his nomination speech. Obama is not the best policy encyclopedia, but he is at the very least McCain's equal. The "praise" heaped on him is for his set piece speaking ability, where everyone (besides Bill Clinton) uses teleprompters. I really don't understand the conservative desire to believe that Obama actually doesn't know anything. You've taken the "empty suit" idea to a ridiculous extreme. The guy has some bad ideas and he's no Hillary Clinton when it comes to policy wonkery, but McCain has been caught with his proverbial pants down (actually not knowing what his policy on a given issue is) far more in this race.
